The Walking Dead: Michael Rooker Says Norman Reedus Got Tired Mutilating Merle

One of the most intense scenes during season three of The Walking Dead was when Daryl Dixon found zombie Merle. At first, Daryl just tried to push Merle away, but eventually he put Merle out of his misery by repeatedly stabbing him in the head.

In fact, Daryl stabbed Merle so many times in the head that it was pretty much impossible to count all the stabbings.
At the Fan Expo Vancouver this weekend, actor Michael Rooker, who plays Merle, talked about scene where he was mutilated by Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl. Michael Rooker said, “He probably threw his shoulder out killing me.”
As the audience laughed, Michael Rooker added, “It was very pleasurable to see him sweat and huff and puff and get really tired and not want to do the scene again because he’s so tired and emotionally just wrought.”
However, Michael Rooker insisted all ended well for his character. Rooker said, “I know a lot of people were really sad when Merle bit the dust, but I’ve got to tell you, Merle’s in a better place.”
