Norman Reedus of 'The Walking Dead' talks about disguising himself as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man

Norman Reedus is a Comic-Con favorite. But he loves the convention as much as the convention loves him. In fact, The Walking Dead star has been known to do some celebrity stalking himself. “I took a selfie with Anthony Bourdain and the lead dude fromYo Gabba Gabba!,” says Reedus of one of his favorite Comic-Con encounters. “I was like, this is the best moment ever!” But wait, did Bourdain and “lead dude from Yo Gabba Gabba!” (also known as DJ Lance Rock) even know who Reedus was? “The Yo Gabba Gabba! guy, he knew. Anthony Bourdain kind of looked at me like, what the hell are you doing right now? But I’m a huge fan of Anthony Bourdain. If I didn’t have this job as Daryl Dixon, I would definitely want his job.”

Of course, there are scores upon scores of fans who would kill to get up close and personal with Reedus. But that can be a bit of a problem for when the star wants to go walk the convention floor. To try to an evade prying eyes, Reedus has employed a variety of costumes over the years so he can mingle undetected with even the most hardcore fans. He shared one such story about going incognito with a Walking Dead castmate.
“It’s funny, because they know what you’re wearing. So if you just put on a mask, you’ll get caught right away. Steven Yeun and I decided to go walk the floor in San Diego, and he went and got us these square, cardboard box heads to wear. And we walked around with those for like a minute, but you can’t breathe in those things, you could barely see, and someone recognized us right off the bat. So we ducked around to one of those vendors and we just bought what they had. And he went as Spider-Man, I went as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. We walked around for a little while, and it was cool. When we came out of there, we went to the hotel and it was so hot that we were just dying in those masks. So finally we pulled them up for a second to just catch some air and we just got bombarded with people. So we got stuck in front of a hotel trying to get out of there. But it was a lot of fun.”
However, Norman claims that there is one person who gets surrounded even more than he does — The Walking Dead creator himself. “The crazy thing is walking around with Robert Kirkman. Robert Kirkman is like the God of Comic-Con, So if you walk around with that guy, you just get mobbed because everyone loves Robert Kirkman and he’s just the king of that world. So that’s my advice: Don’t walk around with Robert.” Or the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
